Learn more about our history in Malaysia
We’ve been part of Malaysian life since 1959 — over six decades of sharing snacks, growing alongside the nation, and earning a place in Malaysian homes.
Our story in Malaysia began as part of Kraft Foods. Then in 2010, Kraft Foods acquired Cadbury, bringing together two powerhouse portfolios of snacks and confectionery. This transformation culminated in the creation of Mondelēz International in 2012, marking a new chapter centred on innovation, agility, and consumer-centric growth.
Today, our brands are part of everyday Malaysian moments — from simple family tea-times to joyful festive celebrations. With manufacturing facilities in Shah Alam and Prai, Malaysia serves as a key hub for both production and product development, supplying high-quality, Halal-certified chocolates and biscuits to markets across Southeast Asia and beyond.
Here’s a look at what we’ve built and what we stand for in Malaysia:
- • A key regional manufacturing and innovation hub: Our facilities in Shah Alam and Prai don’t just serve Malaysia — they supply Halal-certified chocolates and biscuits to markets across Southeast Asia and beyond.
- • Halal certification across all production: All our manufacturing facilities in Malaysia maintain Halal certification, reflecting our commitment to the consumers we serve here.
- • Giving back to local communities:
- • #MDLZPrihatin – a long-term community initiative supporting underserved families and communities, providing targeted assistance through food aid, education, and skills development to create sustainable, long-term impact.
- • Cadbury #KuihRayaDariHati – a community initiative in partnership with MyKasih Foundation empowering women from underserved communities to create better livelihoods for themselves and their families.
- • More than 60 years of trusted presence: Few snacking companies in Malaysia can trace their roots as far back as we can. Over six decades, Mondelēz has become a household name across generations of Malaysian families.
- • Sustainability at our core:
- • Trash Right – a social impact initiative focused on educating primary school students on proper plastic waste segregation and recycling. The program started in 2023 with one pilot school, and has since expanded into 6 states across Malaysia in 2026.
- • Recognized as an early adopter of EPR by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government at ReTHink 2025.
- • From responsible ingredient sourcing to reducing our environmental footprint, we’re building a positive and lasting impact – for people and the planet.
